Every year, during the Lent Term at King's, the Music Department embark on a major choral project, culminating in a cathedral concert in March. Last year was Brahms' Requiem, and we were delighted that 35 OKS joined the choir.
This year, it is time to re-visit the Duruflé Requiem. There will be a performance in the Nave of Canterbury Cathedral, and you are invited to join the King's Chorus once more and sing with us! Please read all the details carefully before registering to sing below.
Rehearsals
In the weeks leading up to the concert, there will be a series of rehearsals. Attendance depends on your experience singing.
Attendance at the weekly rehearsals on Thursdays at the Shirley Hall in King's from 6:30pm is encouraged. Starting Thursday 9 January, every Thursday with the exception of Thursday 6th March (school is closed).
Any OKS who sang the Duruflé with the School in 2018, and are actively still singing at a university or regular choir, can just come to the rehearsal on Wednesday 5 March in London. (Instead of weekly Thursdays. Time and venue TBC).
There will be a final rehearsal on Thursday 13 March, 6:30pm to 8:30pm in the Shirley Hall - all performers are required at this rehearsal.
Concert Day
On concert day, there will be rehearsals in the Music School (starting at 1:30pm), and then in the Cathedral. All singers are invited to have school dinner in the Main Dining Hall before the concert, which starts promptly at 7:30pm.
OKS, former staff, and former and current parents are welcome to join in, and we hope that you'll join us!
