Speech Day is perhaps one of the most memorable occasions in the King's calendar. From the traditional 6a group photograph on the Norman Staircase to the Commemoration Service and celebrations in each house, it is a joyful celebration and conclusion of the academic year.

This year, we were honoured introduce a new tradition by welcoming our first Golden OKS cohort - OKS celebrating their 50th anniversary of leaving King's - to the School for the Commemoration Service. We were pleased to welcome back members of the Class of 1976, who joined the Head's guests in reserved seating at the front of the Nave to experience once again the tradition and music of this special occasion.

Following the service, our Golden OKS gathered in the Archdeacon's Garden- a beautiful and historic part of the School - for drinks and canapés with the Head, Governors and senior members of staff. It was a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with old friends, share memories and celebrate their connection with King's.

The celebrations continued with many of the Golden OKS choosing to have lunch together in the city before returning to King's for afternoon tea, where they enjoyed an impressive spread of treats provided by the School's Catering Team. It was a fitting conclusion to a memorable day, and we hope this inaugural Golden OKS gathering will become a cherished Speech Day tradition for many years to come.

1977 leavers - next year is your Golden OKS year! We would love to celebrate your 50th anniversary since leaving King's. The Commemoration Service is scheduled to take place on Thursday 1 July 2027. A formal invitation from the Development Team will follow in early 2027.
