The Inaugural King’s Association Chorus Perform Poulenc’s Gloria

On Friday 1 May 2026, The King's Association Chorus performed at School's annual choral concert. This year’s major work was Poulenc’s Gloria. OKS and parents have been singing in the chorus for a number of years, but this was the first time the invitation was formally extended to the wider King’s Association - bringing together OKS, staff and parents, past and present, from across all three Schools.

The concert opened with a stunning performance of Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet Overture by the King’s School Symphony Orchestra. Poulenc’s Gloria followed, delivered with precision by the combined chorus, combining energetic passages with quieter, more reflective sections. The School was honoured to be joined by opera and classical singer, Sophie Bevan (soprano), whose vocals complemented the chorus beautifully. It was a memorable concert that reflected the strength and musical talent of pupils and the wider King’s community.

A huge thank you to all our King’s Association singers for making it such a memorable concert. We hope you enjoyed the experience and being part of the inaugural King’s Association Chorus.

A recording of the concert will be available on the King's Music Department YouTube channel in the week following the concert.

The King's Association Chorus will perform again in 2027 - all OKS, staff, former staff, parents and former parents, across all three Schools, are invited to take part. No audition is needed, and there will be a series of rehearsals in Canterbury and London leading up to the concert.
