On Friday 13 March 2026, we hosted our first OKS gathering in Australia, in the vibrant city of Sydney - our most far-flung reunion yet!
The event took place at The Tank Stream Bar, a cosy, tucked away venue just a stone's throw from the famous Opera House and Sydney Harbour bridge. The gathering was hosted by our Director of Development, Jenny, who happened to be visiting Australia on holiday, together with Sydney-based OKS representative Lawrence Lo (WL 1985-88), who kindly helped bring together the local OKS community.
More than 20 former King’s pupils attended, representing an impressive span of generations, from OKS who left the school as far back as 1957 all the way up to more recent leavers from 2023, creating a wonderfully diverse mix of experiences and memories of King’s across the decades.
It was a fantastic opportunity for those living in or visiting Australia to reconnect with old friends, meet fellow OKS from different eras, and share stories of their time at the School and the paths their lives have taken since. Conversations flowed easily as guests reminisced about their time at King’s while also discovering the surprising global reach of the OKS network.
The evening was filled with warmth, laughter and lively conversation, and it was a pleasure to see so many members of the King’s community gathered together so far from the school. Events like this are a reminder that the bonds formed at King’s extend far beyond Canterbury and continue to connect around the world.
A huge thank you goes to Lawrence for organising such a successful gathering. We hope this will be the first of many OKS events in Australia and look forward to bringing together even more of you in the region in the future.
