Alumni of The King's School Canterbury
The OKS Association (Old King's Scholars Association) exists to help its members stay in touch with each other and the School. The OKS Association is its own organisation that exists within the King's Association (the wider community involving past and present pupils, parents and staff).
It enjoys an active, close, and mutually supportive relationship with the School and the Development Office and is, therefore, able to provide a powerful forum for contact, advice, and information for all OKS as well as being a conduit where OKS can support the School in its work.
OKS benefits include:
OKS Magazine twice a year by post and digital
Event invitations to reunions, lunches, drinks and more
News and updates from the school and OKS around the world
Careers and Networking events and opportunities to connect
Return to King's to play in a sports match or sing with the school choir
The OKS Committee comprises of a President, 8 members, and 9 ex-officio members (including members of the OKS Office and members of staff at King's). They meet three times a year to discuss the future of the Association, including events, publications, news and supporting the School.
I loved my time at King’s. King’s has been a constant. As well as my three younger siblings attending King’s, I’ve been inveigled into offering careers advice, kept up with a surprising number of friends and staff, returned to Canterbury, and been to occasional reunions.
I’d like the OKS to offer a meaningful and lifelong connection to Canterbury, King’s, present and former pupils, those who tried to teach us, and their families. It should mean something to all of us – a “club for life” – structured around interaction with the institution and people with whom we spent some of our most impressionable and formative years.
Whether you are thrilled or nonplussed by a rejuvenated OKS, it should be there for you as a gateway to people to whom you matter, and the memories and opportunities they represent. We have lots of ideas about how to do this (and want to hear yours) and it will be my great honour to lead and transform your OKS over the coming years.
