Welcome to The King's Association - a website for past and present parents, staff and OKS. In this guide, we will explain how to set up your profile so that you are ready to make the most of our website.
You can update your profile to include information such as:
Opening up your profile
To view your profile, click on the icon with a silhouette of a person at the top right corner. A drop-down menu will appear - click "My Profile".
1. Upload a photo
Having a profile photo can help people recognise you and appear more welcoming. It also shows to other users that you are an active member on this website. A 2019 study found that LinkedIn profiles with profile photo receive 21x more profile views and 9x more connection requests. It doesn't have to be a professional photo, but we encourage all users to upload a recent photo to their profile to help create an active community!
To upload a photo, click 'Edit Profile' which appears underneath your name:
A new drop-down box will appear. Here, you'll see the 'Upload photo' button.
2. Update your details
In the same drop-down box, you will be able to update your details inlcuding:
Note: Your profile cannot be seen by members of the public/people not registered to this website. Everyone on this website has been approved and verified as a member of the King's Community. Even if your profile privacy is set to 'open' - this means it is open to everyone on our website.
3. Update education, work and achievements
Scroll down and you will see 'Education' , 'Work' and 'Achievements' headers.
It is useful to update these details, so that other members of the community can connect with you for career guidance or simply to connect due to your mutual connection.
Under the 'Achievement' heading, you can add any achievement personal or career related. This is your chance to tell other members what you are most proud of achieving. Perhaps you have completed a marathon, published a book, won a sporting competition or landed your dream role. No achievement is too big or small!
Click on the cog wheel to edit and add information in.
4. Connections
When you connect with other people on the website using the 'Network' page, your connections will appear here.
5. Locations lived in/Experience in
Here, you can let other users know where you have lived and what countries you have connections with. This can be helpful for users who are looking to move or study abroad.
Under 'Experience in', you can list all the career industries you have worked in. This is especially useful if you are signing up as a mentor.
Click on the cog wheel to edit and add information in.
Ready to go!
Follow these steps and you have successfully set up your profile. You are now ready to connect with other members and enjoy exploring other features.
