The King’s School Canterbury is delighted to announce that its recent production of Clue has been nominated for Best Play 2025 by the National School Theatre Awards (NSTA).

This thrilling production was performed at The Malthouse Theatre from 28th to 30th November 2024. Clue captivated audiences with its perfect blend of mystery, farce, and comedy. Adapted by Sandy Rustin, the play is based on the 1985 cult-classic film and the iconic board game. It follows a lively group of characters caught in a chaotic whodunnit set in a stormy mansion.

In their review, the NSTA described the production as “a brilliant showcase of young talent.” The judges praised its meticulous set design, dynamic performances, and professional technical execution. Directors Henry Skillern and James Musgrave were also commended for their collaborative vision, which brought this 1954-set mystery to life.

The production’s attention to detail stood out. Costumes and props perfectly reflected the era, immersing the audience in the story. The lighting design enhanced the suspense and comedy, while musical interludes added energy and atmosphere.

The student cast delivered outstanding performances. Megan’s sultry Miss Scarlet and Ismael’s bumbling Colonel Mustard were particularly memorable. Athena’s eccentric Professor Plum and Ellie’s enigmatic Mrs White added humour and intrigue. Theo’s portrayal of Wadsworth, the butler, was a highlight, with his infectious energy and impeccable comedic timing.

Behind the scenes, the backstage crew led by Joseph received high praise for their flawless scene transitions. Their hard work ensured the production ran seamlessly and contributed to its success.

This nomination celebrates the creativity, dedication, and teamwork of everyone involved. From the performers and directors to the choreographer, Victoria Outram, and the technical team, this was a true team effort.

Congratulations to the cast and crew of Clue on this incredible achievement! Stay tuned for updates on the NSTA Best Play 2025 awards. Once again, well done to all involved!
