Linacre House 70th Anniversary Reunion

155 OKS returned to celebrate the founding of the house

On Saturday 8 June, Linacre House celebrated its 70th anniversary with a house reunion.

Over 155 OKS leavers from 1949 to 2023 attended, and the celebrations kicked off with tours around the recently refurbished house. Many OKS were pleased to see that the bathroom facilities had much improved (!) and enjoyed finding their old bedrooms, sharing lots of happy memories along the way. After tours, drinks started flowing and we were entertained by The Linacre Men singers who gave a rendition of My Evaline. Mat Lister (current Linacre Housemaster) welcomed everyone, expressed his delight to see so many old and new faces, and gave a toast to the future generations that would enter Linacre House.

A two-course lunch followed in the main dining hall. Chris Millar (Linacre Housemaster 1964-74) said grace, whilst David Reid (Linacre Housemaster 1974-76) and Paul Teeton (Linacre Housemaster 1997-2008) shared their favourite memories as housemaster. It was a truly joyful event, filled with house pride, rekindled friendships and positive memories.

With special thanks to Mat Lister (current Linacre Housemaster) and his pupils for their warm hospitality and to Kerry Reed, Chris French and the whole catering team for providing a delicious lunch.
