On Tuesday 25 November 2025, the Art Department were delighted to welcome back OKS Luca Pawson (MT 2011-16), an accomplished Fashion Designer, who delivered an inspiring talk to pupils.
Luca had known from a young age that he wanted to become a Fashion Designer, and it was during his time at King’s that he first had the opportunity to truly explore and develop this passion. He participated in the whole-school fashion show as a Shell pupil in 2013 and later created his own fashion show in 2016 as part of his A Level Art coursework – an ambitious project that marked the beginning of his journey into the world of professional fashion.
Since leaving King’s in 2016, Luca has carved out an extraordinary career. He completed a Foundation Degree in Fashion and Textiles at Ravensbourne University, followed by a BA in Fashion Design (Womenswear) at Central Saint Martins. He is now a Paris-based Fashion Designer and has worked for several leading luxury couture houses, beginning his career under the mentorship of John Galliano at Maison Margiela, and more recently working with Givenchy.
In his talk, Luca spoke candidly about his creative journey – from his early experiences at King’s to the realities of studying, interning, and working within highly competitive fashion environments. Pupils were captivated by his honesty, warmth, and the clarity with which he discussed both the challenges and rewards of pursuing a creative career.
Many pupils took the opportunity to ask thoughtful questions during the Q&A session that followed, and Luca generously stayed after the event to speak one-to-one with pupils, offering personalised guidance to those interested in fashion or other creative pathways.
His warmth, expertise, and practical advice left a lasting impression on our pupils, many of whom left feeling newly energised about their own artistic ambitions. We are extremely grateful to Luca for returning to King’s and for sharing his experience with such openness and passion. His visit was a truly memorable and empowering moment for our aspiring creatives.
