The support of those who remember King's in their Will is today more impactful and vital than ever before. Whilst fees remain our largest source of revenue, they are no longer sufficient to achieve all our objectives in this challenging environment. Bursarial support is also more in demand than ever before.
This is why our wider community and members of the Robert Rose Legacy Society, who continue an age-old tradition of contributing a significant amount to support our highest priorities, play such a critical role in shaping King's for the future. In doing so, they support the next generation of King's pupils - broadening minds, unlocking potential and building brilliant futures. For this, we are enormously grateful to them.
To keep our members up to date with the lastet news, and to rightfully recognise the impact of gifts in Wills at King's, we share a Society newsletter twice a year. We are delighted to be posting our third edition here for you now, including:

We hope you enjoy reading this newsletter, and thank you so much for your support!
In our last edition, the Head opened her introduction describing King's as “a solidly built ship”. Indeed, King’s is ancient and solid, with an expert skipper and a steady helm. And we, her crew, pressganged (by our parents) from all corners of the Earth, sail the turbulent oceans and calm seas together.
It has taken one and a half millennia to build this ship, and there have been many and continuous repairs to ensure she remains seaworthy. To keep her sailing fast and true, we learn new skills, adopt new technologies and bring new crewmates aboard. When the chance comes, we grow our fleet.
Now I could get carried away with these sailing analogies. But I sincerely believe we all have a role to play in the future of this extraordinarily ancient and beautiful place. Whether offering navigation guidance from below decks, cheering from the shore, or providing sustenance and encouragement to those on watch, we each have something to contribute.
If you have already included a gift to King’s in your Will, please share your story and help to inspire others to follow in your footsteps.
If you have recently joined the King’s community, whether as a parent or OKS, or have served as a member of staff, please do keep your Will updated and, if you can, include a gift for King’s. Even 1% of your estate can be a significant gift.
And if your path to King’s lies ahead of you, welcome to our good ship. Enjoy the bounty of others’ generosity that has kept us in such good order for the past 1400 years. Their legacy is your good fortune.
Kate Chernyshov (SH 1984-86).
