The annual House Song competition took place on Thursday 15 October 2026 in the Shirley Hall. A much-loved event at King’s since 1959, House Song is a special tradition, fondly remembered by generations of OKS and former staff. We can now reveal the results for 2026:

1st - The Grange

50 Ways to Leave Your Lover by Paul Simon

2nd - Galpin's House

Sweet Talkin' Woman by ELO

3rd - Kingsdown House

Material Girl by Madonna

Other notable song choices include: Running Up That Hill by Kate Bush (Mitchinson's House), a "boy band mash up" (Jervis House) and Stand by Me by Ben E. King (Meister Omers).

The most recent first place position for The Grange that we could find in The Cantuarian was in 2006 when the house performed The Circle of Life by Elton John. Galpin's House remain the house with the most victories, but The Grange are close to overtaking them and taking the top spot.

Congratulations to The Grange on their win, and the rest of the houses for their memorable performances!
