The Combined Cadet Force (CCF) was honoured to welcome His Majesty’s Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Kent, Sir Hugh Robertson, to a parade recognising the exceptional service and dedication of two senior cadets and two members of CCF staff. Sir Hugh's visit was made even more special by the fact that he is an OKS - a former Broughton House pupil from 1976 to 1981.

Cadet Sergeant Major Josie and Cadet Staff Sergeant Lucy were presented with the Combined Cadet Force Association (CCFA) President’s Certificate in recognition of their voluntary service for Canterbury Cathedral. The two cadets have taken turns leading the Ringing of the Bell Ceremony on Saturday mornings on behalf of the Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment, the School’s affiliated regiment.

The CCFA President’s Certificate is awarded for “excellent and exceptional service” and represents the highest volunteering award available to a CCF cadet. It recognises Josie and Lucy’s many hours of dedicated service and commitment to their community through their role in this important act of remembrance.

Staff members Lieutenants Ridley and Singfield were also recognised for their outstanding contribution to the cadet movement, receiving His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant’s Award for Meritorious Service.

These awards are a considerable honour, bestowed upon individuals who have made an exceptional contribution to the cadet movement above and beyond the normal call of duty. Regarded as second only to King’s Honours, they acknowledge sustained dedication and exemplary service. Between them, Lieutenants Ridley and Singfield have contributed more than 30 years of service to the CCF.

The Vice Lord Lieutenant joined award winners for a special lunch before the parade.
