Pelham Higgins (LN 1986-91) is the OKS Representative in Japan.
I was a boarder in Linacre and effectively followed in my family's OKS footsteps because my mother’s brother had attended The King’s School Parramatta, Australia. Immediately following that emotional last day at King’s on 4 July 1991, I returned home with a heavy heart to “British” Hong Kong which was home until my father’s retirement from Cathay Pacific the following year when my family and I relocated to sunny Brisbane, Australia.
After school, I studied at the University of Queensland where one of my majors was Japanese and also competed as an Australian national level swimmer at the 1994 Commonwealth Games and 1998 World Championships selection trials. In 1994 I established ties in Japan through swimming before spending about 2 years there after graduating.
I completed post-graduate studies in Sydney while working for a few years as a town planner before being pulled back to Japan in 2005 where I have been ever since. I am now an investment manager for an Australian real estate company specializing in industrial/logistics in Japan, South Korea, Singapore, New Zealand and Australia.
I live in Tokyo with my wife and two children. Whilst I go back to Australia often it pains me to admit that I have only ever been back to Europe twice since leaving school in 1991!
