On Sunday 27 April 2025, members of Walpole House reunited to celebrate the house's 90th anniversary.

Over 130 guests were in attendance, with leavers from 1957 to 2020. The celebration started with tours of Walpole House, and the current pupils in Walpole kindly took some time away from revision to show everyone around.

After tours, guests enjoyed drinks in the sunshine in front of the house. Elena, the current Head of Walpole House, gave a delightful speech on the steps of the house, sharing recent house news and triumphs such as coming second in the most recent House Song competition.

After Elena and Nikki's warm welcome, lunch was served in the Main Dining Hall. We were honoured to have three former Housemasters and Housemistresses in attendance, who each gave a speech over coffee. Before they spoke, Alex Patton (Senior Deputy Head) read out a message from Robin Pittman (Housemaster 1970-78) who unfortunately was unable join us on the day.

To many cheers, Martin Vye (Housemaster 1978-90) told us stories from his time as Housemaster, mentioning that one of his Matrons, Ann Burr, has recently celebrated her 100th birthday. Janet Pickering (Housemistress 1990-94) described the beginnings of Walpole as a girls' house, and how integral Walpole was to the introduction of co-education at King's. Jean Watson (Housemistress 1994-2007) finished the speeches by showing various photos and letters from her time as Housemistress, emphasising the importance of community.

A special thank you to Nikki Ridley, and her team of current Walpole pupils, for assisting with the house tours.
