Congratulations to OKS Sarah Knight (LX/JR 1991-96), who has been awarded the Women in Innovation Award from Innovate UK, the government innovation agency.

Sarah is the founder and CEO of The Allergy Team, a company who provide resources, workshops and information to families, schools, and organisations in effort to promote allergy safety and awareness. Sarah co-founded The Allergy Team with OKS Jen Meakin (née Stubbings, LX 1991-96), who first met as pupils at King's. 

The Women in Innovation Awards celebrate and support women across the UK to fully achieve their vision for their businesses and change the world, while championing and celebrating gender diversity throughout UK innovation. Through the programme, Sarah plans to develop an AI platform that will streamline allergy management, from staff training to policy documents, making it more accessible and affordable for schools.

After the award was announced in February, Sarah was invited to a reception at 10 Downing Street, hosted by Prime Minister Keir Starmer, to discuss the future of AI and how it can be used for good. 

Sarah says:

“I am thrilled to have won a ‘Women in Innovation’ award to develop an AI powered portal to streamline allergy management for schools. Allergy is the most common chronic condition in childhood, and yet an often-overlooked area of safeguarding, so to have this award and the recognition from the government for The Allergy Team’s work is a huge boost. Whilst the award is in my name, it’s very much a team effort with my co-founders Jen Meakin (née Stubbings, LX 1991-96) who I met at King’s, and Katharine Carpenter.”
