Powered by the King’s Community: Celebrating the Success of Our Boat Club Fleet Appeal

Thank you for your support

We are delighted to celebrate the outstanding success of our recent Boat Club Fleet Appeal - an initiative that brought together parents and OKS in support of one of our most historic and high‑achieving co‑curricular programmes.

Rowing has long been a defining part of life at King’s, instilling teamwork, discipline and resilience in generations of pupils. Earlier this year, the Appeal was launched to ensure this proud tradition continues to thrive and by investing in safe, competitive and future‑ready equipment, to enable our pupils to train and compete at the highest level.

The response from the King's community was incredible! Thanks to the exceptional generosity of our supporters, the Appeal has already delivered significant impact. We are pleased to have purchased a brand‑new girls’ quad for our female rowers, alongside several new sets of blades and other essential equipment. In addition, we were honoured to receive the tremendously generous donation of a boys’ quad and a single scull from OKS Chris Culverhouse‑Hall (WL 1985-90) and his wife, Katie. We are incredibly grateful for their support.

In a sport where marginal gains are crucial, this new equipment plays a huge part in supporting the ambition of the Club. But the impact goes far beyond improving our kit. Knowing that the wider King's community believes in them and is prepared to invest so generously in their sport has made a profound difference to our rowers. We are deeply grateful that you have chosen to back rowing at King's in such a meaningful way.

A Lasting Legacy on the Water

Rowing at King’s is valued not only for sporting excellence, but also for the formative experience it provides - shaping character, commitment and camaraderie well beyond pupils’ school years. As such, the benefits of the Boat Club Fleet Appeal will be felt for many years to come. Enhanced equipment improves training and broadens competitive opportunities. It also ensures our pupils can row with pride as ambassadors for the School. Most importantly of all, knowing they have the suppport and backing of the entire King's community behind them has boosted the morale and confidence of the whole Club.

Every gift, regardless of size, played a vital role in the success of the Appeal and reflected a shared commitment to opportunity, participation and achievement at King’s. We are deeply grateful to all who donated, promoted the Appeal, or supported it in any way. Your generosity ensures that rowing continues to flourish, enabling current and future pupils to enjoy an exceptional sporting experience - on and off the water. Thank you.
