Fran Izzi is the PA to two Deputy Head's at King's.
Tell us a little about your life before King's.
I grew up in the Canterbury area and after studying sociology at university, I stayed in London for a ten-year chapter. I was the office manager of a management consultancy and loved working in central London whilst living in Wimbledon. After welcoming my daughter, the pull of home brought us back to Canterbury. I’ve now been part of the King's community for nearly eight years, spending my first four in the bustle of Junior King's before moving up to the senior school!
What has been the highlight of your year?
I always try to get involved in life at King's, and this year I’ve really enjoyed participating in the King's Association quiz night and the support staff charity walk for the Air Ambulance Kent Surrey Sussex. I am also a massive sucker for a raffle - this year I won a vacuum cleaner at the Christmas party, Steve Collins was a little jealous!
What is your favourite part about your role at King's?
Being a PA isn’t just about putting dates in people's calendars; it involves a huge variety of work, and that is what I enjoy most - from arranging events to recruitment to designing anti-vape signs for houses!
I love getting to know a wide range of colleagues and helping them where I can. Lately, I have taken on a lot more attendance data work, and there is something strangely satisfying about closing a day with zero gaps across more than 11,000 registration points!
What do you do when you're not at King's?
My top 5 things to do are; running, going to the cinema, eating out (mainly at Cafe des Amis!), drinking Kent sparkling wine and of course going on holiday with my husband and daughter.
What is at the top of your bucket list?
To make my ultimate bucket list and combine the previous question, I would love to do a travelling holiday around Italy where I could run, eat and drink with the best possible company.
