A Walpole Tradition

Did you know that there is a group of Walpole House OKS who meet every leap year for lunch? This tradition was born on 29 February 1956, when Edward Stanley (WL 1952-57) hand wrote a letter to a group of his friends at King's, instructing them to meet at the Savoy in London on 29 February 1984. 20 of them made it, and they have been meeting every leap year ever since! (Ironically, Edward himself never attended any of the reunions, but his friends were inspired to keep the tradition going).

The group, made of Walpole OKS from the 50s, met once again in 2024 at King's. Guests enjoyed a three-course lunch in the Gateway Chamber with Jude Lowson (Head at King's) and Nikki Ridley (current Walpole Housemistress). 

We are delighted that this tradition has continued for many years and would love to see other OKS create their own traditions!
